Norsk Folkemuseum - See Norway in a day!
At Norsk Folkemuseum - the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History - you can experience and learn about traditional Norwegian culture and history. The Open-Air Museum features 155 authentic buildings from different national regions, including Gol Stave Church from the 13th century. Our indoor collections feature traditional Norwegian Folk Dress, Folk Art, Living Environments, Sami Culture, Antique Toys, Norway's First Parliament Hall as well as temporary exhibits on selected themes.
During summer domestic animals graze our pastures and hosts in traditional regional costumes populate the Open-Air Museum, offering a variety of activities such as guided tours, folk music and dancing, demonstration of traditional arts and crafts, baking of "lefse" and horse-and-buggy rides. During spring, autumn and winter the museum offers family programs on selected Sundays. The Christmas Fair held on selected Sundays is Oslo's largest annual pre-Christmas event. Historical houses decorated for Christmas, concerts and family programs and 130 market stalls for your your seasonal gift-shopping!
Cafées and gift shop. We also offer unique facilites, built in the national romantic style of 1917, for your events.
