“FROM ICE AGE TO CHRISTIANITY” presents glimpses of people’s lives in
In THE TREASURE CHEST (SKATTKAMMERET), you will find a collection of gold and silver jewellery and other valuables.
THE VIKING COLLECTION focuses on the Vikings’ lives as farmers, traders and warriors, but also on mythology and burial customs.
THE MEDIEVAL COLLECTION is mainly devoted to church art, such as stave church doorways and sculptures of saints.
THE COIN CABINET (MYNTKABINETTET) presents the history of Norwegian coins.
In the ANCIENT EGYPT exhibit, you can see mummies, mummy cases and gifts for use in the afterlife.
AMERICA – PRESENT – PAST – IDENTITY. This exhibit focuses on the ways in which indigenous people and minorities form their identity and traditions in encounters with the greater society.
ARCTIC AND SUBARCTIC. This exhibit displays traditional clothing, tools and equipment and arts and crafts from Greenland, Siberia, Northern Canada,
AFRICAN CULTURES. These artefacts have been collected by explorers and colonial civil servants, but also by current anthropologists.
EAST ASIA. On the museum’s top floor, you will find beautiful arts and crafts from
