Oslo cruises
In 1929 Oslo had 22 calls of cruise vessels to the city. In 2009 153 vessels with 269 500 passengers called in Oslo. There has been a considerable growth the last years. Oslo has almost five times as many passengers as in 1993, and a 12,5% increase from 2008 to 2009.
Cruises to Oslo can be divided in two segments:
- Baltic cruises (66% of passengers in Oslo), where Oslo is the only Norwegian port and St. Petersburg is the main destination
- Norwegian cruises (34% of passengers in Oslo), with visits to Bergen, the fjords and sometimes North Cape
In 2009 Oslo had cruise tourists from 134 different nations.
Passengers from Germany, UK, USA and Norway acount for 66%. Italy and Spain are also important.
In 2010 RCCL will again use Oslo as a turn-around port for Vision of the Seas on 9 short cruises in the Nordic waters.
