In 1929 Oslo had 22 calls of cruise vessels to the city. In 2010 150 vessels with 260 000 passengers called in Oslo. There has been n 8,5% yearly growth the last ten years. Cruises to Oslo can be divided in two segments:

  • Baltic cruises (66% of passengers in Oslo), where Oslo is the only Norwegian port and St. Petersburg is the main destination.
  • Norwegian cruises (34% of passengers in Oslo), with visits to Bergen, the fjords and sometimes North Cape

In 2010 Oslo had cruise tourists from 136 different nations. Passengers from Germany, UK, USA account for 55%. 

In 2011 RCCL will again use Oslo as a turn-around port for Vision of the Seas on 6 cruises. 41 over-night calls have been reported
